Sponsored Riders

We are proud to sponsor 5 riders across various equestrian disciplines. Each chosen for their love of their sport and willingness to support other riders. Check them out below -

Shannon Armour & TheFixer -
12+ years ago I moved to Invercargill to work in a harness racing stable, and I've since produced a number of off the track thoroughbreds and standardbreds including being an educator for the HRNZ HERO program. In 2018 I took out my harness racing trainers license, and have trained a few winners, with 11 coming from my stable favorite Ivana Legacy. My current hack is TheFixer. He was very successful as a racehorse, with one of his main wins being NZ Cup, also winning group races in both Australia and NZ. Tosti is now my show horse who I also do clerk of the course on in Southland at the harness meetings. This season am wanting to expand our wings and do dressage.

I can never have 1 favorite product from Southridge, I have a lot of PE gear, the bridles are amazing soft supple and top quality at affordable prices! The other favorite product is Jenn herself, her knowledge, her willingness to help, the generosity the love and passion she has for everything related to horses and her business goes above and beyond! No question is a silly question.

Abbey Thompson & Cadbury KSNZ

I’m Abbey Thompson, a 25 year old full time eventing rider from Te Kauwhata. I have previously competed to 4*.  my current horse is Cadbury KSNZ (Jack) he is an 8 year old warmblood cross. Jack stepped up to 2* level last season and achieved a win at Brookby horse trials and 2nd place at Taupo 3 day, he will be stepping up to 3* this season. Very excited for his future! My favourite product from Southridge Equine is the Milan bridle from Lumiere, it looks amazing and has a great fit.

Hannah Wong & Savvy Kiss

I’m Hannah, I am a dressage rider, mum and small business owner from Auckland. I’ve been a competitive dressage rider for a long time. Prior to my current horse I competed up to Advanced and had started schooling the Grand Prix work with my then mare Supernova Dream.
My current mount is a 2017 mare by Let’s Kiss ’n’ Tell called Savvy Kiss who will be making her competition debut in the 2023/2024 season. She is a very big, sensitive type who is showing a lot of talent and promise for the higher level work which I am very excited about.
We love being part of the Southridge Equine sponsored team and love supporting Jenn’s business. Our favourite products apart from the supplements she stocks (big fans of the BetaVet steady steed, Chasteberry and Gastri-Tec and Elite Equine Compete) would have to be the beautiful Lumiere range of bridles and leatherwear, Fager bits and her very own range of casual wear.
Jo Stevens & Grace Ferguson
My name is Jo and I am a full time dual code racing trainer based in Tamahere. Born in Australia I have ridden my whole life, my passion being showjumping. I moved to NZ in 2014 to pursue a career in thoroughbred racing. Little did I know I would also be introduced to and fall in love with the art of harness racing. Currently I train and pre train both standardbreds and thoroughbreds, as well as being a HERO rehomer. I also have the GR1 winning On The Rocks (Smudge) who is recently retired and now loving his life as a sport horse, already competing mere weeks off the track and bringing home the bacon!
My daughter Grace has been riding since before she could walk and is the most dedicated horse girl I know. She loves not just riding, but is also passionate about caring for her beloved Maxxy Smudge (named for his bigger stablemate) Grace has also followed in her Mum, Dad and Grandads footsteps by learning to drive her pony Cooper in the cart.
Jenn has so many fantastic products it's hard to choose a favorite, for Smudge it would have to be my Lumiere micklem style bridles. I actually have multiple and use them not just for smudge but on pre trainers and schoolers too! I also really rate the Lumiere stability leathers which are fantastic for my lower leg when jumping! For Grace and Maxxy Smudge, it would easily be Equine Eats and Treats cookies.
